Student Column #3丨One Day at HQIS

Today, our Upper School students published the third article of the Student Column - “One Day at HQIS”. Robin, from the Film-making Committee, made a fantastic video about our campus. Alex, a member of the Social Media Committee, interviewed him. Robin will explain how he came up with this authentic masterpiece, revealing every secret behind the scenes.

This promotional video was produced by Robin, a student at Shanghai Hong Qiao International School, who is also a member of Film-making society at school. He says that the video is not only the debut product of their society, but also a gift for the school where he lives and studies in.

From the beginning of entering the school, students' daily activities are shown in the video. Robin said that it took about a week to prepare for the whole film and he spent two days editing the film, to which he and his team put their best efforts. As an audience, I can feel the extreme effort and hard work the film-maker and the whole society put into this work.

When being asked of which part of the film he liked best, Robin replied: "Personally, I prefer the static shots in the film. I think it looks calm and I want others to have a peaceful feeling while watching."

Therefore, the whole film depicts different things in every corner of the school without saying any words. It makes the audience feel they are actually placed inside the shot and is experiencing the students' life themselves. It is abundant and quiet, peaceful and nice.

It is very impressive for him to shoot the video like this within one week, and the author thinks the completion of this film is quite satisfactory. He said that many shots could be handled more carefully, but due to various reasons, it was a pity at last. However, we believe that with more practice, the only flaw would disappear eventually. And according to the author, the whole film is mostly made by a single person, which is very difficult.

Finally, we hope that the author can always remember the original intention of making the video, so as to deliver the motivations and the idea of happiness in the video to more people.
